World of Warcraft –it’s a global multiplayer role-playing online game. World of Warcraft, along with other games of the same genre, is usually referred to as MMORPG, i.e. global multiplayer role-playing online games.
The majority of online games support the participation of two to several dozen users, who play simultaneously in the game world. But the possibilities of global online games are much wider: in such projects, thousands of players constantly interact with each other. That’s why these games are called global.
Unlike regular games, MMORPG doesn’t have a single player mode offline. During the game, you need to be connected to the Internet. This doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to play by yourself: World of Warcraft offers a variety of options for playing the game alone.
But there are other adventurers in the virtual world and if you want to share the fun of the game, you must be connected to the Internet. The main part of the game focuses on a group of players, who explore dangerous dungeons and defeat powerful monsters together, helping each other.
In World of Warcraft, each character has a unique set of skills and abilities that define their role. For example, magicians –are powerful spellcasters, who use supernatural forces to attack the enemy from a distance, but in the melee – are extremely vulnerable. These features determine magicians’ strategy: to keep their distance, do the most damage and hope to kill monsters before they get to them.
If we consider a group of players, the squad has three main roles: “tank”, fighter and healer. A warrior can be a great “tank”, in other words, the defender. “Tanks” are very hardy and can absorb a large amount of damage, but their main task – divert the enemy’s attention from more vulnerable members of the group.
Magicians, mentioned above – are the characters that cause a lot of damage. Priests, whose vocation is to heal the suffering, cannot inflict significant damage, compared to other classes, but their role is difficult to overestimate because they help colleagues to survive, using their knowledge of healing.
It’s important to note that characters of all classes, regardless of individual characteristics, may play alone. Some classes can only play a specific role, such as warlocks and rogues – these are the characters that cause great damage. Some character classes, such as druids, can successfully combine all three roles.
The term “role-playing game” also means that you play the role of a character that lives in a fantasy world. How deep you connect with the character – is up to you: some people come up with habits, manners, and the whole biography of their game counterparts.
Diving into the virtual world can bring a lot of fun, but the choice is yours – perhaps such a game style simply doesn’t suit you. This role component is voluntary, but we provide some role-playing worlds for those, who prefer to play with a full immersion in the world.
